Camarillo, CA – The Camarillo Health Care District announced today it has procured a $35,000 grant to implement an innovative program designed to assist those who care for people with Alzheimer’s.

The Arthur Rupe Foundation will provide funding to implement the Resources and Education for Alzheimer’s Caregiver Health (REACH) program, an evidence-based intervention program developed by the Georgia Southwestern State University’s Rosalynn Carter Institute.

The REACH program provides training and tools over a six-month period to assist caregivers with providing quality help to their loved ones. REACH-certified staff at

District will begin program outreach on July 1st with the goal to enroll 10 caregivers during the first month. All staff have Masters Degrees in Social Work with specializations in geriatrics.

Board of Directors President Rodger Brown says the grant will help the District achieve its goals for making effective, evidence-based programs available to the community.

Long-term goals for the program include reduced rates of caregiver depression and anxiety, reduced institutionalization for Alzheimer’s patients and reduced health care costs overall.
