Lots of fun awaits! Sign up for Adventures in VR
Imagine an epic battle between dinosaurs breaks out in front of you while you're deep in the jungle.
Or, in a more serene environment, you can relax and practice Tai Chi in Central Park, a tropical island or igloo.
Photograph an emperor penguin colony while kayaking in Antarctica and climb an iceberg using ice picks. Visit state and national parks, and learn about the various points of interest.
Swim with sea lions, turtles, dolphins, manatees or sharks in the ocean, or interact with zebra, tigers or giraffes on land. Listen to a live concert, play a game of chess, travel in a hot-air balloon, go sight-seeing in a convertible or double-decker bus, or ride a roller coaster.
Be front and center as a spaceship lands on a frozen pond, and a very smart bunny thwarts an alien invasion in a 3D film narrated by actor Ethan Hawke and created by the director of "Madagascar."
Or find yourself in a 1950s-style diner in "Traveling While Black," a 3D experience that immerses viewers in the long history of restriction of movement for black Americans and the creation of safe spaces in our communities. Visit the Anne Frank House or experience heightened senses in "Notes on Blindness," a journey into a world beyond sight.
All of these experiences (and more) are possible through our award-winning Adventures in Virtual Reality program.
The cost is very affordable at $5 for an introductory class where we teach you how to use the equipment (very easy!) and $10 for intermediate level (add $4 if you live outside the District).
Come back as often as you like. In most of our classes, we meet in groups of up to 6 people, discuss our adventures and we give you a passport to document it all. Or you can join Independent Adventures and try any VR application we have in an hour-long independent session outside the classroom experience. You must be 13 or older.
Increase your digital literacy, explore the virtual world, ignite your imagination and meet new friends.
For class descriptions, dates and times, visit our website. Even more classes will be added soon, so check back.
